Our Senior Pastors

Joshua and Paula, the visionary Lead Pastors at The Cityline Church, are at the helm of one of the most dynamic and rapidly growing bilingual ministries in the Northeastern United States. This vibrant spiritual haven, nestled in the heart of Jersey City, is home to a diverse congregation of over 400 households, embodying a rich mosaic of over sixty different ethnic backgrounds. Their pioneering spirit led them to establish a private Christian School, catering to grades K-8, alongside their extensive work as national and global church planters. Their ministry is deeply rooted in a transformative philosophy: to empower individuals by reconnecting them with their divine identity, thereby enabling them to make a profound and positive impact across all spheres of society.

Joshua’s path to ministry is as remarkable as it is inspiring. After a decade of success in the high-powered world of Wall Street Investment Management, he embraced a higher calling in 1996, dedicating his life to elevating the global quality of life through full-time ministry. In 2006, he broke new ground as the first Hispanic Police Chaplain in their 177-year history, a role that speaks volumes about his commitment to community and inclusivity. Bishop Rodriguez’s influence extends beyond the church walls; he has been an integral part of several Governors’ Transition Teams, working closely with notable figures such as Governors James McGreevey, Jon Corzine, Chris Christie, and Phil Murphy. His contributions in various advisory and commission roles, including the Governor’s Hispanic Advisory Council for Policy Development and the State of New Jersey’s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, have earned him widespread recognition and respect.

Joshua’s leadership extends into various spheres. As the Vice-President of NaLEC (The National Latino Evangelical Coalition), he addresses crucial issues like poverty, immigration, and education. His founding role in Jersey City Together and senior advisory position in the New Jersey Coalition of Latino Pastors and Ministers underscore his influence in both spiritual and civic realms. His board membership in the Hispanic Chamber Fund and his appointment as Chair of the New Jersey Puerto Rico Relief Commission by Governor Phil Murphy further demonstrate his extensive involvement in community and state affairs. His exemplary leadership and ministry have been recognized with numerous honors, including being named “Alumnus of the Year” by the Alliance Theological Seminary and “Puerto Rican Man of the Year” during a significant cultural festival in Jersey City.

Educationally, Joshua is a distinguished alumnus of Nyack College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management, and the Alliance Theological Seminary, from which he graduated with honors with a Master of Divinity degree. His academic journey culminated in a Doctorate in Global Leadership from Alliance University in 2016.

Paula’s journey is equally compelling. Her transition from Wall Street and radio broadcasting to full-time ministry is a testament to her adaptability and dedication. Far more than just a pastor’s wife, she is a dynamic force in her own right, equipped with the gifts of preaching, teaching, and vibrant leadership. Her ministry, enriched with a prophetic musical talent, has touched lives globally. Paula’s musical ventures include three recorded productions and a self-produced musical. Her academic accolades include a Bachelor of Science in Music in Worship from Nyack College, where she was recognized for her exceptional musical and scholarly talents.

Joshua and Paula, both distinguished authors, together create an exceptional partnership whose global influence and inspiration reach across every continent, impacting lives worldwide. Their family life is as rich and fulfilling as their ministry, with four children, two daughters-in-law, and six grandchildren, all living in New Jersey. Their story is a vivid tapestry of faith, leadership, and unwavering dedication to both their community and the wider world.
